Form Follows

The owners of an 800 SF bungalow needed more space and wanted to take advantage of partial city and bay views from a proposed second level. Unfortunately, the desired views were mostly blocked by their 2-story neighbor.

Our solution

Build where the view is!  We proposed a tower in front of the existing home and an extension at the back to create a single soaring living/dining/kitchen area with panoramic views of city and bay by looking around and over the neighbors. The views are truly breathtaking!

The composition of the home is quite sculptural but is in no way arbitrary.  Each design move is a specific response to a particular challenge.  Even unique forms must ever follow function!
